Organic Gardening - Flowers, Fruits, Vegetables

Well, I haven't been around for a while.  What's up?  My three year old Stanley Plum looks like it's dying.  All the leaves suddenly drooped and now they're withering and curling up.  What could be wrong?  We've had bouts of intense heat, followed by short monsoon rains, then more intense heat.  Also, do young plum trees need full sun? Because there's a big-ass alder growing up inside the middle of the lilac bush and it's blocking the sun from the plum sapling.  I can't think of anything else that could be wrong.

Any clues?

Stanley plum

Any fruit yet? We have a Stanley plum planted several years ago and it has yet to bear fruit, though it is quite healthy. It's planted in full sun. How many leaves are dropping? Is it a localized problem on one branch or more serious? I don't really have an answer, but will follow your care of this tree with interest. I'll ask around the organic farm near our tiny orchard and see what the neighbors say.

Re: Stanley plum

No fruit yet. I thought I saw some tiny blossoms earlier in the year, but obviously those are long gone now. The problem is all over the tree, i.e. every branch, every single leaf. The tree is about 4 feet tall. Our other saplings, bought & planted at the same time, are growing like crazy (a Bartlett pear and a different variety of plum, the name of which I can't recall and the label has worn off).

Re: Stanley plum

FYI my other plum tree is a Cortland, and it's going berserk.
